Our study on The Book Of Exodus continues with this third part which is entitled, “Called, Empowered, and Equipped for Ministry.” It deals with the calling of Moses into the presence of God and his subsequent sending. But before he was sent, the Bible records the took place between God and Moses, and how Moses tried to reason himself out of the work that God was giving him.
But God would not let him go, and He answered all his questions, and provided solutions for his fears and worries. Their conversation went this way:
- Moses raised the question, “Who am I that I should go to pharaoh…?” to which God’s answer was a resounding, “I will be with you.”
- Moses raised the problem of how he will answer when the people begin to ask, “Who sent you? And what is His name?”
- Again, Moses raised another issue, “What if they will not believe?”
- Then Moses humbly submits that he was not eloquent in speech, but promised that He will give the words to say as needed.
- Finally, he admitted he simply did not want to go. At this point God became angry at Moses. But still, God provided a solution to his dilemma.
